The proposed project seeks to address the pervasive societal issues surrounding drug use by increasing legal awareness among affected groups. The project will involve producing informative flyers that outline essential legal rights and resources, including contact information for relevant organisations as well as information to better understand legal liability concerning drug use, particularly in relation to the quantity of substances owned, and how such laws are applied to new psychoactive substances (NPS).

In addition, the flyers will highlight what actions the police are permitted to take and what actions constitute a violation of an individual’s rights. They will also inform readers of their legal rights upon being arrested, including when the assistance of a lawyer is required. Furthermore, the flyers will discuss the circumstances under which medical teams are required to notify the police and when they are not. To ensure that the information reaches those who are most affected by the so-called “war on drugs”, including young people who use drugs, low-income communities, and ethnic minorities, the flyers will be distributed in partnership with relevant organisations.
