London, UK joined the 2013 Global Day of Action.

Organisers: Students for Sensible Drug Policy, the International HIV AIDS Alliance, and the International Drug Policy Consortium

The London event, coordinated by Students for Sensible Drug Policy and the International Drug Policy Consortium, gathered around 70 people wearing “Support. Don’t Punish” T-shirts and Richard Nixon masks near the Parliament and Westminster Abbey, to demonstrate against the war on drugs. Caroline Lucas, Member of Parliament for Brighton Pavilion, joined the demonstration and called for the decriminalisation of drug use and for an independent review of the effectiveness of the UK Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. The demonstration was animated with drums music, attracting the attention of passers-by and MP for Cambridge Julian Huppert, who showed support for the campaign.
