Leading organisation: Bridge Hope Health Organization
As the world is fighting with the coronavirus pandemic outbreak, which affects key populations disproportionately, the Bridge team will celebrate the world Support. Don’t Punish campaign in an open area to prevent transmissions, distributing face masks and sanitiser to community members, including street-based people. We will also offer fumigation and distribute leaflets to community members, civil society representatives and police officers to promote the human rights of people who use drugs. These actions will be supported by a social media campaign.
Campaign messages, translated by Bridge to Dari and Pushto, will be shared with the local community, government officials and other authorities to encourage the endorsement of harm reduction as an evidence-based effective alternative to coerced treatment, heavy criminalisation and discrimination, and community and police attacks on people who use drugs.
The event will take place in the most crowded area of Kabul city, Pol e Sukhta kot e Sangi, where about 2,000 people who use drugs live in open-air scenes.
