Lead Organization: Kenya Network of People Who Use Drugs (KeNPUD)
Supporting Organizations: Kiambu MAT Network, Positive Living
Description: KeNPUD plans for 2022 is to reach drug users and general community members with information and knowledge on stigma and discrimination on their human and health rights. This event will be held during the Community Market clean-up at Dagoretti Ndunyu. The participants will be members of the drug users’ community, general public and Law enforcement. This will be done through collection of garbage and unblocking of drainage. The community will be provided with gloves and reflectors jackets with the day’s message. The mobilization of the community members will be through social media, through peer educators and community resource people.
Stigma and discrimination remains as one of the key hindrance to accessing comprehensive health care among PWUDs. In this case we will sensitize the community members anti stigma and violation of human rights and dignity of people who inject drugs. We shall also conduct Sensitization on legal literacy among the PWUDs on knowing their rights. After the activity; we shall continue with the community conversation and sensitizations.
