Support Drug Checking in Porto

During this year’s Global Day of Action, we will organize advocacy activities for the implementation of drug checking services (DCS) in Porto. Kosmicare is a Portuguese NGO that provides DCS in different community settings in Lisbon, namely in the safe consumption rooms of the city.

In Porto there is still no drug checking service available and  additionally, we have reports of substances with unexpected effects. Taking advantage of the opening of the first safe consumption site in the city, the R3 network (a network of Portuguese harm reduction teams) intends to perform drug checking at the main drug consumption locations in the city using Kosmicare’s mobile DCS.

Also, during the event the R3 network will organize a debate amongst relevant stakeholders (politicians; PWUD; health and social workers, etc.) around the importance of these types of services to prevent overdose and other drug related emergencies.
