Pleaders of Children and Elderly People at risk

Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo 2021

Lead oraganisation: Pleaders of children and Elderly People at risk (PEPA)

Supporting organisations: All civil society organizations partners to PEPA that intervene in the fight to reduce the risks due to drug use, drug users, military, police and civilian judicial bodies

The advocacy activity is organized by PEPA/DRC with its partners to follow up on the proposed 1903 law regulating the sale and trafficking of drugs which was reviewed by PEPA in an inclusive manner with all stakeholders: drug users, the police and civil judicial bodies, civil society organizations and the law has been submitted to the provincial authorities for modification; hence for the follow-up of our law proposal we will organize a press conference in Goma accompanied by the media and all the above mentioned stakeholders; then we will make a restitution of the advances of the advocacy and which will be filmed and broadcast on a local channel to see how to launch an appeal to the other organizations of the civil society to integrate in the fight of decriminalization of the users of drugs and yet the law of 1903 is defective and criminalizes the users. The advocacy message will be launched to the media by the users; the leaders of the civil society organizations.
