Day of Action 2018

City: Montevideo
Organisations: Imaginario 9

We aimed to raise awareness around the stigma suffered by people who use cocaine base paste. We produced a series of videos in which people who use drugs, families, health, justice and security professionals participated and responded questions orientated towards the need to support, not punish people who use cocaine base paste. Imaginario 9 will produce 3 audiovisual pieces in which people who use drugs, families, neighbours and public authorities will respond to questions orientated to underscore the need to support and not to punish the users of cocaine base paste. The clips will then be disseminated in social media.

Day of Action 2015

The Collective Proderechos, Pera de Goma and UMS Street Art Colombia painted a mural under the slogan, “Stop the War on Drugs, Support. Don’t Punish”. The mural, that counted with the participation of young people and PQUD, can be found on one of the walls of the leading criminal courts in Montevideo. The activity began early in the morning and continued successfully until late in the evening. It counted on the collaboration of around 100 people throughout the day. Also, the call to action managed to bring government officials and other NGOs together, generating a space for informal dialogue on the topic.
