In Malaysia, the “Support. Don’t Punish” Day of Action was coordinated by the Malaysian Welfare Association of Recovering Drug users (WARDU, a drug users organisation). A large and diverse group of people gathered in Kuala Lumpur, originating both from the city and neighbouring communities. They took part in a demonstration, public gatherings to talk about the problems created by the criminalisation of people who use drugs, and compiled signatures of supporters in a large “Support. Don’t Punish” banner.
